The Week in Review
It was a slow week for Blue Mountain Wildlife, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of excitement. Admissions included a Western Screech Owl trapped in a chimney, a gunshot Great Horned Owl and a Cooper’s Hawk that died before reaching the center.

Bald Eagle 21-292 Release
The eagle was found unable to fly near an irrigation ditch in June. It was thought to have been struck by a vehicle.
After being examined by Dr. Mike Fuller at Ellensburg Animal Hospital the eagle was transferred to Blue Mountain Wildlife in Pendleton to recover from a dislocated shoulder and multiple lacerations.

Another Rough Week for Raptors
There were just seven admissions this past week, all but one a raptor. Of four Great Horned Owls, three had humerus fractures, the fourth was tangled in a fence, none could be saved. A Sharp-shinned Hawk was shot and a Red-tailed Hawk was likely struck by a vehicle. …

Owls Rule in the Clinic this Week
Fortunately, business continues to be slow. There were just six new admissions this past week. Most were injured too badly to save, but there are some hopeful cases, especially amongst the owls.
Great Horned Owl 21-751 was admitted last week with a damaged left eye and fractures in his right foot. …
