Lots of Releases
The week started with Nicole releasing a young Cedar Waxwing admitted five weeks ago as a nestling.
Later that day, Nicole and Megan helped two young conservationists release two Barn Owls. The girls found one of the owls in their yard. The other owl was a friend who convalesced at the same time.

Golden Eagle 18-612
Above, Nicole recovers a fledgling Golden Eagle from anesthesia. Hunters found the starving eagle near Yakima. Radiographs documented a fractured humerus and a shattered tibiotarsus. In addition to being extremely emaciated, blood work revealed a severe anemia. …

Two Peregrines within a Week: 18-596 & 18-584
On average, BMW admits two Peregrine Falcons per year, often about this time of year. The bird above, 15-596, was found alongside a road near Elgin, OR on Sep 1, 2018, and was presumably hit by a car. There is major swelling in her right wingtip and the major and minor metacarpals are fractured. …
