There were just six new admissions this past week. Injuries ranged from hit by car, electrocution, lead poisoning, window strikes and a Red-tailed Hawk that is a mystery.

Raptor Week
There were seven new admissions this past week: a Long-eared Owl, an American Kestrel, a Cooper’s Hawk, a Rough-legged Hawk and three Red-tailed Hawks. The owl was found hanging in a barbed-wire fence near Waitsburg, WA. There was a long tear in the skin on the underside of its left wing. …

2020 was certainly a year like no other. Missing from the list above, as a direct result of the corona virus pandemic, are Number of Interns: 5 and Number of Education Programs: about 150. Many wildlife rehabilitation centers had record admissions in 2020. …

A Sad Week for Birds and People
There were just three new admissions this past week. The first was Sharp-shinned Hawk 21-002 with a head injury. Initially, the hawk’s head was about 180 degrees out of sync. Currently, she can hold her head upright with some effort and she is able to eat cut up food on her own. …
