There were just nine new admissions in the past week, including three raptors, four varied thrushes and a northern flicker who had been shot. Sometimes we forget that we humans are the invasive species (or at least there are far too many of us) and we need to try and be a little more understanding of native wildlife, even when they try and find insects in the siding of our house. …

There were just three new admissions this past week, two Red-tailed Hawks and a House Finch. One hawk had a badly fractured left coracoid (in the shoulder). The other hawk was emaciated due to a leg fracture just above the left knee. Their injuries were not repairable and the hawks were euthanized. …

The 50th bird of the year was admitted this past week, more than double the number of birds admitted during the same period in 2021. Hopefully this trend will not continue for much longer. As is often the case this time of year, most of the birds had injuries that were not repairable. …
