Red-tailed Hawk 20-007 circled the slough in front of an appreciative crowd at McNary Wildlife Refuge complex before landing on a power pole across the water to gain his bearings. Thank you to Cherie Baudrand for sharing her photo of the hawk release.

Week in Review

There were four new admissions this past week: one Red-tailed Hawk, one Western Screech Owl and two Great Horned Owls. The hawk had a compound humerus fracture that was not repairable and was euthanized.


Great Horned Owl 20-020 was found hanging by his left wing in a barbed-wire fence, with lacerations on both sides of the wing. …

The Week in Review - Releases

Three Red-tailed Hawks were released at the Pendleton Center.

Red-tailed Hawk 19-556 was admitted on Thanksgiving with gunshot injuries: a fractured left ulna and a hairline fracture in the right humerus.


Red-tailed Hawk 19-533 was struck by a vehicle on I-84 just west of Pendleton on November 2. …
