New X-Ray Machine
Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are to Cathy Oliver who made Blue Mountain Wildlife a beneficiary in her will. Cathy’s amazing gift has made it possible for BMW to purchase an x-ray machine. It will now be possible to x-ray birds during the initial intake exam allowing their condition to be evaluated more quickly, minimizing stress and saving both time and money.

Two Releases
A Red-tailed Hawk whose broken leg was repaired by Dr. Susan Fazzari of Animal Clinic East in Walla Walla was released on Thursday.
Then a young Swainson’s Hawk was returned to his family.

Eagle Scout Project
Blue Mountain Wildlife has recently benefitted from the efforts of two scouts. Nathan McDonald completed his Eagle Scout Project this past Saturday by installing 6 new barn owl boxes at BMW’s Tri-Cities Center. The scouts built two additional boxes which will be held in reserve to replace other nest boxes as they wear out.Thank you scouts for a job well done!

Guns, Germs, and Numbers
This week brought the third gunshot hawk in less than two weeks. A fledgling Swainson’s Hawk was found near Prosser, WA. Someone shot her three times. Fractures in her right wing could not be repaired and she was euthanized.
