It’s Looking Like Winter - We Had Our First Snow Day
The Week In Review
There were just four admissions this past week. The first was American Crow 20-576 who had a fractured humerus that could not be repaired. It was not apparent that the Crow had been shot until a necropsy was performed. It was found at Warehouse Beach along the Columbia River by people riding their horses.
The same day Merlin 20-577 was found in Tieton, WA. We’re not sure how the small falcon was injured, but his right radius was fractured. He has perked up considerably since admission so we are cautiously optimistic he will full recover.
Sharp-shinned Hawk 20-578 had a badly broken wing and was humanely euthanized.
Northern Flicker 20-579 was found in Harrah, WA. The woodpecker appears to have a dislocated scapula, the result of a collision with something. It is able to perch, but definitely doesn’t feel very good. Hopefully tincture of time will make the difference.
The week ended with the Washington Wildlife Rehabilitators Virtual Conference. The presenters and topics were excellent.
