Welcome Tricia!!!
The exciting news this week is that my niece, Tricia Marquez, has joined BMW’s staff! Tricia spent several months last year helping while I recovered from hip replacement surgery. Now she has moved from Texas to work full time at BMW. As an attorney, she will provide incite as we continue planning for a new wildlife hospital. Her great passion, however, is in developing partnerships with BMW’s education birds. She and Darrel have hit it off. Welcome Tricia!
The Week in Review
Bird wise, we had a quiet week with just four admissions: an American Robin with multiple fractures, an American Kestrel with an open humerus fracture, an emaciated Western Screech Owl with a brood patch (indicating she had been incubating eggs or perhaps hatchlings) and a second Western Screech Owl nestling. We were able to release three birds this past week. Great Horned Owlet 22-098 was returned to his family in Prosser, WA. An adult Mourning Dove was released in Kennewick and a Horned Lark (below), the first baby of the season, was released near where it was found on the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
