Baby Barn

Thank You to everyone who sent donations this past week to help feed the hungry  Barn Owls. Two very dedicated BMW members offered to meet all donations up to $7,000 and you have nearly met the Match by donating $6,866!!! There is one week left to reach our goal of $7,000. We are so very grateful for your generous support.

They Just Keep Coming

Another baby barn

More baby Barn Owls arrived this past week bringing the total number to 300. If you haven’t had an opportunity yet, and would like to help out by donating to baby barn owls, we have some amazing gifts for you! Depending on the level, you may take a behind-the-scenes tour at BMW or symbolically adopt one of the baby barn owls currently in our care!

In Celebration of Earth Day

Earth Day visitors

Sunday, April 22 was Earth Day. We celebrated by offering a special tour of the wildlife center and then releasing 3 adult Barn Owls. One of the owls made a brief stop near the Songbird Pen as if to say goodby. Thank you to all who attended.

Barn Owl Release

Red-tailed Hawk 18-114

It seems like we can’t go a week without admitting another gunshot bird. This Red-tailed Hawk was found near Pasco. Its difficult to see, but there are multiple tiny lead fragments visible in the right wrist. The wing was too badly damaged to repair, and the hawk was euthanized.

Bald Eagle 18-006 Celebrated Earth Day Too

The young Bald Eagle recovering from lead poisoning continues to grow stronger and more graceful by the day. She is a huge bird with an 8 foot wingspan.
