Early Occupant

One of the Red-tailed Hawks recently released from a hack box checks out the new display pens.

Business continues to be brisk, but fortunately,  July is starting out a little more reasonably than June. This past week almost as many birds were released as were admitted. Volunteer Mary released three Robins, three Mourning Doves, a Northern Flicker and a Cliff Swallow. A Common Raven was reunited with its family at Ice Harbor Dam, two more Red-tailed Hawks were released from hack boxes and three young skunks were released, without incident!

Mystery Bird

Leucistic Cedar Waxwing

Can you identify this bird? Note the yellow tips of the tail feathers. It is a fledgling  leucistic Cedar Waxwing. The youngster was found in Yakima.
