Christmas Came Early - New Education Materials
The latest addition to BMW's reference library is Raptor Medicine, Surgery and Rehabilitation. The author is Dr. David Scott of the Carolina Raptor Center. It is an excellent resource for the raptor rehabiltator on your Christmas list.

Another great education resource is a mounted Red-tail Hawk skeleton prepared by friend and colleague, Lara Webster. What an excellent tool this will be when trying to visualize two dimensional radiographs.

More Releases
Volunteers Toni and Pam released two Western Screech Owls. Toni sent the pictures below.

Toni also released the Black-crowned Night Heron admitted last week.

Red-tailed Hawk 16-885
Sadly, the week ended with the admission of a Red-tailed Hawk who had been shot. The hawk had multiple fractures in the right wing that were not repairable and the bird was humanely euthanized. It was the 31st gunshot victim of the year.
