The Week in Review
We gathered together for a group photo before saying goodby to intern Adrian this week. Above, from left to right, is me, Winnie, Samantha and Adrian. We wish Adrian the very best as she continues to advocate for and educate the public about our native snakes.
A few hours later, we welcomed new intern Tina. Tina is from LA and is a pre-vet student at Yale. She has quickly mastered the art of feeding a wide variety of baby birds!
Prairie Falcon Exercising in a Flight Pen
Adrian took this photo while cleaning water pans one morning. The falcon is just about ready for release.
Sunset at the Great Horned Owl hack site…
My niece Tricia took this photo one evening while feeding the owls at the hack site. She has been helping out as I’ve recovered from hip surgery (I’m just about back to 100 percent). All the owls are flying free. They have mastered flying and are practicing their hunting skills. We will continue to provide a decreasing amount of food until the owls are self=sufficient. One of the owls is perched on a pole above the barn.
Thank You Volunteers!!!
BMW volunteers have been incredibly busy, fielding many calls each day, returning babies to nests whenever possible, transporting transporting orphans or injured birds to either the Tri-Cities or Pendleton centers if necessary. Thank you volunteers for all you do to help our native wildlife!
