What an Assortment: 26 Admissions, 15 Species
One never knows what will come through the door on any given day. That was certainly the case this week. As is typical, raptors outnumbered non-raptor species. Here’s some of what we saw.
Pied-billed Grebe 19-380
Swainson’s Hawk
Six Swainson’s were admitted this past week. Volunteers Mark and Shelly rescued this fledgling from a busy road in Selah, WA. BMW is very fortunate to have an amazing cadre of dedicated and resourceful volunteers who are always willing to go the extra mile for wildlife in distress. Thank you volunteers!
American Kestrel 19-382
Mystery Flycatcher 19-385
We are fairly certain this little guy is a small flycatcher. It weighed 8 grams when admitted and is essentially full gown. It was found at Harris Park, above Milton-Freewater.
Flying Squirrel 19-384
This tiny squirrel fell out of her nest tree on Weston Mountain.
Osprey 19-377
Two Osprey were admitted this past week.
There was a brief thunderstorm this past week, and then we spotted two Bald Eagles at the end of a rainbow!
