Annual Membership Meeting, January 26, 2019, 1 pm
Please join BMW’s Board of Directors for the Annual Membership meeting Saturday, January 26, 2019, 1 pm at the First Christian Church, 215 N Main Street, Pendleton. There will be a review of 2018 activities and a look ahead at 2019. Refreshments will be served.
Prairie Falcon 19-009
Volunteer Tara transported this little, male Prairie Falcon to Pendleton. He had been found in a Baker City neighborhood. with a nasty laceration on the upper surface of his right wing. The wound appears to be healing nicely and he has am excellent appetite.
Update on Golden Eagle 18-765
The Golden Eagle, admitted three weeks ago from Baker County after being hit by a vehicle, continues to make slow progress. Initially he was blind and very unsteady on his feet. His vision is improving and he is beginning to use his feet to hold his food while eating. Tiny steps along the road to recovery.
Update on Bald Eagle 19-008
After completing one course of chelation, the Bald Eagle’s lead level has dropped from 92.4 micrograms per deciliter to 21.8 mcg/dl. He is now able to stand for short periods of time. He eagerly eats two meals per day. We are slowly increasing the quantity of food so as not to overwhelm his lead-compromised gut. We know he can see, but determining exactly what he is seeing is challenging. His eye-beak coordination is not normal!
Thank You Volunteers
BMW is so fortunate to have such a dedicated group of volunteers. We had help this week from Laurel, Michele, Tara and Valerie. Rosie helps Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at the Pendleton Center. New volunteer Alyssa (below), a student in the Veterinary Assistant program at Blue Mountain Community College, is working on Sundays and Fridays.
