The Week in Review

We enjoyed temperatures in the 80’s this weekend, but the forecast calls for triple digits again in the coming week. We have sprinklers set up to keep the birds cool when it gets hot.

Vet tech student Robyn has quickly become part of the BMW team, working in the clinic in between baby feedings from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. We are so thankful she is here!

Another Rough Week for Raptors

Western Screech Owl 22-339 had non-repairable fractures in the right radius and ulna.

Swainson’s Hawk 22-340 was electrocuted. The injuries were too extensive to save the hawk.

American Kestrel 22-343 had non-repairable fractures of the left radius and ulna close to the elbow joint.

Baby Birds are Doing Well

This week brought a young Barn Swallow that fell two stories from its nest in a Pendleton apartment building (without any injuries!) and a young Mourning Dove who was found in the middle of a road near Echo. The dove is a very eager fellow!

And as soon as the next tomato ripens, Tricia and I are going to have a cucumber-tomato-basil salad from our garden!
